If you are taking the leap to pursue a dream and start a business, you will assuredly have people in your life that see the vision and encourage your goals/dreams, and others who, well…won’t.  And that’s OK! 

But when it comes to the voices speaking into you it is so important to surround yourself with encouraging and inspiring people, and to get rid of “haters”- those that are toxic to the courage, momentum, and self-confidence you need to go after big goals.  

Why?  Because stepping out of your comfort zone, taking risks, and chasing dreams takes a lot of bravery!  If doubts and well meaning “concerns” are what you hear the most, after long enough, you may actually start to believe all the negativity.  Maybe the discouraging voices you hear/heard were, a parent growing up… a classmate in Jr. High… a current friend/family member… or perhaps its yourself? 

One thing I’ve learned in the last few years is exactly how big of a snowball effect my own thoughts have on me.  The truth is, I can always find someone out there more creative and more accomplished than me; a mama/wife/business owner who is more patient, in shape, accomplished, and appearing to be handling-it-all-with-a-plate-of-fresh-baked-cookies-and-a-smile than me.  

When I allow my mind to compare myself with others, criticize myself, and ruminate on my perceived weakness and lack of “X”,  I’m actually cultivating soil that make those thoughts grow.  I sabotage myself.  I don’t know about you, but at a certain point my brain literally begins to shut down, and I become less creative, less motivated, less hopeful, and less focused. 

I, just like YOU, have important work to do and purposes to fulfill… and my self-doubt, comparison, and perfectionism are far greater destroyers of dreams than any other person’s words will ever be, because that’s the soundtrack I hear in my head all day.
